“Everyone is very welcoming and open minded to new ideas and are also very willing to support one another in ethical business practices.
At the end of the day, going vegan can be daunting and maybe lonely, so attending markets like these show you that you‘re not the only person going through these experiences. Looking forward to the upcoming events!“
“Major kudos to Planty Bru for putting GQ on the vegan map. I just love to be able to attend a market with only vegan products and to meet up with likeminded people. And on top of that such a great vibe and venue.”
„The Planty Bru market has a great vibe. I love the variety of sweet treats and savoury foods, hand made gifts and natural spoils. The live music gives it a festive feel, and being dog friendly epitomises the real reason behind it all… Embracing all species, recognising their intrinsic value, and compassion to all beings.“
“Once again what an amazing market... delicious food stalls and the lady selling flowers had incredible king proteas grown from seed. Our home smells awesome from the incense we bought. Lovely live music and fabulous vibe as always.”
Martin – Vegans of SA
My beliefs help me stay vegan. I do not want to cause harm, pain or suffering upon any living thing… not intentionally… so it’s important, that even when consuming plants, to be mindful of where it came from, and to practice gratitude.
Zoe – Vegans of SA
What helps me stay vegan is that I make sure I keep my kitchen stocked with vegan ingredients. Veganism is a lifestyle and definitely should not be restrictive. So whether you choose to eat more whole food vegan food or not, view the vegan shift as a lifestyle change, not a diet.
Green Mom – Vegans of SA
My biggest challenge was trying to convince my family and friends that I hadn’t lost my mind for choosing to live a vegan lifestyle and choosing to raise my daughter as a vegan.
I think it’s important for vegans to address family concerns and their lack of education about veganism, but to also, not be weighed down by their judgemental views.
